Pool service basics

How often should you clean a pool?

Most residential pools need cleaning and a water-chemistry check once a week. In Texas summer heat, weekly service is the minimum that keeps chlorine in range and algae out. Skipping to every other week is where most pools turn green.

How much does pool service cost per month?

Weekly pool service is usually a flat monthly rate based on the size of your pool, whether it has a spa or water features, and the condition the water is in when service starts. We quote your exact rate before the first visit, with no per-chemical charges.

What does a pool cleaning service include?

A full weekly visit includes skimming and netting debris, emptying the skimmer and pump baskets, brushing the walls and tile, cleaning the filter on schedule, a complete water-chemistry test, and an equipment check of the pump, heater, and water level.

Is it cheaper to clean your own pool or hire a pool service?

Doing it yourself saves the monthly fee but costs you time and the chemicals, and a missed week in summer can mean an expensive green-pool recovery. A weekly service keeps the water balanced and catches small equipment problems before they become repair bills.

Do I have to sign a contract for pool service?

With us, no. You start month to month. We earn the next month by keeping your water clear, not by locking you into a term.

Water chemistry and cleaning

How often should pool water be tested?

Pool water should be tested at least once a week, and more often in heavy use or extreme heat. We test free chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, cyanuric acid (stabilizer), and calcium hardness on every visit and adjust the water back into range.

What are the ideal pool chemistry levels?

Standard targets are free chlorine 1 to 3 ppm, pH 7.4 to 7.6, total alkalinity 80 to 120 ppm, cyanuric acid 30 to 50 ppm, and calcium hardness 200 to 400 ppm. Holding these keeps the water safe, clear, and easy on your plaster and equipment.

How often should a pool filter be cleaned?

It depends on the filter type and use. Cartridge filters are rinsed regularly and deep-cleaned periodically, DE and sand filters are backwashed based on pressure. We clean your filter on the right schedule for its type so the water stays clear between visits.

Why is my pool water cloudy?

Cloudy water usually means out-of-balance chemistry, a dirty or undersized filter, or poor circulation. We test the water, correct the chemistry, clean or service the filter, and confirm the pump is running long enough to clear it up.

Green pools and seasons

How do you fix a green pool?

A green pool is recovered by balancing the water, shocking it with chlorine, running the filter continuously, and brushing and vacuuming out the dead algae over several days. Once it is clear, weekly service keeps it that way.

How long does it take to clear a green pool?

Most green pools clear in two to five days, depending on how bad the algae is and the equipment. Severe cases or very old water can take longer, or need a partial drain. We quote green-pool recovery separately from weekly service.

Do you need pool service in the winter in Texas?

Yes. North Texas winters still need regular chemistry and cleaning, plus freeze protection. A hard freeze can crack pumps and plumbing if the system is not set to run, so winter service is about protecting your equipment as much as the water.
